Ionic conductivity enhancement of PVA: carboxymethyl cellulose poly-blend electrolyte films through the doping of NaI salt

Abstract In this paper, we report the effect of doping sodium iodide (NaI) salt into a polymer blend matrix carboxymethyl cellulose (NaCMC) and poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA). Solution casting approach was used to prepare solid electrolyte (SPE) films. The films were characterized by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-Ray diffraction (XRD), electrical impedance spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). XRD showed that NaI incorporation decreased crystallinity NaCMC/PVA-based SPE. FTIR technique confirmed complexation with due formation coordination bond between Na + –OH group hydrogen I ? –CH group. sample 30 wt% highest conductivity 2.52 × 10 –3 S cm ?1 , strongly influenced charge concentration $$(n)$$ ( n ) not its mobility ( ? ). DSC revealed an increase in glass transition temperature $$({T}_{g})$$ T g increasing content. TGA studies decrease thermal stability inclusion. transference number found be 0.99 for conducting showing primary carriers are ions. exhibited mechanical strength 15.42 MPa at room temperature, it has been fabricate battery evaluate suitability energy storage devices.
